Vandenberg Space Force Base, California – American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) recently completed delivery of the SARah-1 satellite from Friedrichshafen, Germany to Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The SARah-1 satellite is a radar reconnaissance satellite built by Airbus Defense and Space and will be operated by the German armed forces.
The 4-ton satellite was trucked from the Airbus facility in Germany and loaded onto M/V ARC Defender at the port of Antwerp, Belgium for ocean transport to the port of Baltimore, USA.
The satellite was then trucked across the United States to Vandenberg SFB, where it was successfully launched into orbit on the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle at approximately 7:19AM PT.
“The delivery of this satellite from Germany to California was an amazing team effort between Airbus, ARC, Airbus’ nominated forwarder, and Bennett trucking,” said Christopher Barber, ARC’s Sr Director Sales. “Well done to all involved in delivering this essential project as promised and ahead of schedule!”
